Leonland - Leon Barnard

Chapter 1 > Switzerland

In Switzerland we visited Bern and Interlaken. Bern was a nice contrast to Paris. It was very scenic and good for walking around. Interlaken was like one big summer camp. It was a haven for young American and Canadian backpackers and there were a ton of activities suited to our crowd. We did something there called "canyoning", which is basically like white water rafting without the raft and the paddles. It was quite a thrill.

Bern

Interlaken

There are a lot of mountains surrounding Interlaken. This is a view from the top of Harderkulm. I'm guessing that Harderkulm means "really difficult hike" in Swiss, because that's what it was. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to hike up to the top and most of it is very steep. But the view was breathtaking.
