Chapter 2 > The arrival of Sinterklaas
Sinterklaas is original Santa Claus. He arrives from Spain in the middle of November, along with his helpers Zwarte Piet (Black Pete). On December 5th, the eve of his birthday, he delivers presents to all the good children on a flying white horse. This is one of the most special holidays in the Netherlands and is especially exciting for children.

Zwarte Piet's boat unloads. Zwarte Piet is all black because he delivers the presents down chimneys and get covered in soot as a result.
Sinterklaas' boat is the white one in the background with steam coming out of it.
After Zwarte Piet and Sinterklaas arrive there is a parade down the main street.
Everyone is very excited to get a close view of Sinterklaas.
