Leonland - Leon Barnard

Chapter 4 > Paris

I love Paris. I had been twice before, but another opportunity came along that was too sweet to pass up. I found myself with time, a perfect travel partner, a cheap ticket (off-peak and leaving from New York), and a place to stay. There was no way I could say no. I figured that the weather would be crappy, but I knew that wouldn't be enough to keep me from having a wonderful time. And I'm sure I could go 20 times and have a different, great experience each time.

The Arc de Triomphe, the first notable stop on our journey.

I couldn't help taking lots of pictures of the Eiffel Tower, it really is majestic and very pretty.

A view at night from below.

The Hotel de Ville, very near to where we were staying, in the Marais neighborhood.

We did a lot of walking, and we got a lot of nice views like this one.

Of course, we stopped when the signs told us to. I didn't want to mess with this guy.

Notredame, a nice place to sit and think about the past.

The Centre Pompidou. It really is funny-looking. All the pipes and stairs are on the outside. So, supposedly, it's really clean-looking on the inside.

The Louvre courtyard. I didn't have the energy to go inside, it's massive.

We did go to the Musee d'Orsay, which was really cool. It used to be a train station. You can kind of tell from this view.

A view of Montmartre through a clock inside the Musee d'Orsay. Since it used to be a train station it has big clocks like this in several places.

One of my very favorite paintings, it's by Monet.

Night falls.

THE Moulin Rouge.

A Parisian traffic jam. They can get really messy because the streets are so small.

A nice scene along the Seine.
