Chapter 3 > Monterey and Carmel
There are a ton of beautiful places in the Bay Area. Monterey and Carmel, about 2 1/2 hours south of San Francisco, are two of the best. Monterey is more commercial and active, while nearby Carmel is quieter and more serene. Both are right on the Pacific Ocean and great places to get away to. I spent an afternoon in Monterey and then headed over to Carmel for sunset and dinner.
There are a lot of things to see in Monterey, but I couldn't keep my eyes off the water.
Having lived in the middle of the country for most of my life, I'm a sucker for sights like this.
Arguably the greatest attraction in Carmel, watching the sunset on the beach.
The clouds were low, but we were lucky enough to see the sun peak through just before it set.
