Leonland - Leon Barnard
Chapter 2 > Enschede
I went to Enschede, which is very close to the German border in Eastern Holland, to see an exhibition at the DaVinci Techno Activity Center called "NeuroFuzzy World" that described and showcased some of the uses of neural networks and fuzzy logic technologies. I also spent some time walking around the city.
These people actually have nothing to do with neural networks or fuzzy logic, I think they were advertising some kind of laser tag-type game and I asked them to pose for a picture. They're from the future.
The DaVinci Techno Activity Center at the University of Twente. It actually used to be a bank, while I was there I got a tour of the vault downstairs that is now used just for storing books.
This was one of the coolest things at the exhibition. It's a robotic arm that is balancing a metal rod. When you push on the rod, the arm automatically adjusts to keep it balanced. Kind of hard to explain, but it's really cool when you see it.
The museum was in the science park, so even the sculptures were scientifically-oriented. The spikey things flop around as the connectors holding them heat up and cool down. At least I think that's how it works.

How come nobody told me it was bread week?
A church tower in the city center.
Do a lot of people bike in The Netherlands? Yeah, you could say that.
The train station just before I went home.
