Leonland - Leon Barnard
Chapter 4 > Goin' back to Cali
Before I started school again, I took a trip back out to California because I knew it would be a while until I would return again. My trip began in Southern California, where I met my girlfriend's parents and explored LA with her. Then I drove up to the Bay Area by myself to spend a few days visiting friends and going to my favorite places.
My girlfriend at her parents' new house.

This is what most of the drive from LA to Northern California looks like.

Sometimes you get a few hills to look at.

I spent most of my time in Berkeley. This is at the corner of Ashby and Shattuck in South Berkeley, near where I used to live.

There are a few places I always visit when I'm in Berkeley. One is Caffè Strada, a super cool campus coffee shop with a great outdoor patio and awesome coffee.

The other is I.B.'s Hoagies, also near the UC Berkeley campus. This place is actually my favorite restaurant in the whole world. Man, I could go for one of their italian steak hoagies right now! The buns are perfect and somehow the mix of sauces is just right - that's the difference.

Berkeley is the epitome of cafe culture, here's a mocha I got at another coffee shop in Berkeley.

I usually spend some time on the Berkeley campus too. This is the Campanile in the middle of campus, it's modeled after the one in St. Mark's Square in Venice.

The Campanile in the reflecting pool near memorial glade and the library.

A grove of eucalyptus trees on the West side of campus.

I also always make sure to spend some time in San Francisco. It's such a dynamic and diverse city.

Here's a cute sign I saw on a clothing store while walking around SF.

Thanks for putting those photos up - really brought back memories - especially Cafe Strada (well worth that uphill hike after the gym!)
