Leonland - Leon Barnard

Chapter 3 > Alcatraz

The first thing you see when you get off the boat that takes you there. I found out that Alcatraz was occupied by Native Americans for over a year in the late 1960's to attract attention to their causes. Alcatraz has a whole, long history that goes beyond just being a federal penitentiary.

A great view of San Francisco from just outside the jail.

Another great view, this one of the Golden Gate Bridge, from the East side of the island.

One of the rows of cells inside the penitentiary.

A typical cell inside Alcatraz. Pretty small, huh?

I think one of the most difficult things about being in Alcatraz would be seeing views like this.

An uninviting corridor.

One of the buildings that was burned down at some point in the island's history.
