Leonland - Leon Barnard
Chapter 6 > Hermosa Beach
I love the beach. I think I'll try to visit all of the beaches in Southern California while I'm here. I recently had a free weekend day, so I somewhat randomly picked Hermosa Beach from the list of So. Cal. beaches. I had driven by it once before and had meant to return and give it my full attention. One of my favorite parts of this trip, which I didn't capture with my camera, was skateboarding along the boardwalk. I did capture some other areas of the boardwalk while I was walking, along with some nice views from the really long pier. There's nothing fancy about Hermosa Beach, so I think it could be easily overlooked, but I think that's a big part of what makes it so pleasurable.
One of my first impressions of Hermosa Beach, a beach-inspired sushi restaurant called Paradise Sushi.

A surfshop a few blocks inland from the boardwalk area.

The pier here is really long. You get a nice view at the end.

I think this kid was just waiting to be photographed. He picked a good thinking spot in any case.

Looking South (I think) from about half-way down the pier.

One of the cool, engraved garbage cans along the pier.

Looking North near the end of the pier.

A plaque on the Surfers Walk of Fame, also on the pier.

After I checked out the pier and skateboarded, I walked South along the boardwalk. I spied someone chilling out in their house looking out the window at the ocean. It looked funny to just see a foot.

The lower level of the same house. Nice, huh?

The house next door wasn't as nice, but the large, reflective windows sure looked cool.

Downtown L.A. as I was caught in traffic on my way home.
